Role Description
This is a full-time remote role for a Java Software Engineer at KOTH Gaming in India with the potential of visa sponsorship to relocate to HQ in London. The Java Software Engineer would play a pivotal role as part of the formative development team and responsible for developing and implementing sophisticated business logic that prioritizes gamification and monetization in the backend, the database alongside real-time market data feeds, and the RESTful APIs. The backend will seamlessly bidirectionally communicate with the frontend mobile-based and web-based apps, which adopt React and React Native. The successful applicant will work alongside the CTO and frontend developers to build robust and scalable systems and ensure seamless user experiences and will take ownership of projects and leverage cutting-edge technologies that unicorns adopt to deliver meaningful applications to our users.
Responsibilities
Developing the backend with Java alongside the database with real-time market data feeds of a greenfield project
Ensuring the backend has robust RESTful APIs that seamlessly interact with all frontend applications bidirectionally
Ensuring strong collaboration between the frontend and backend teams for a cohesive user experience
Diagnosing and resolving performance bottlenecks on the backend and the database
Regularly maintaining and optimizing software to ensure high-quality, clean, and efficient applications with a strong emphasis on object-oriented programming and scalability
Qualifications
Graduate from an IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) institution, ideally in Computer Science, or one of the listed universities above specializing in Computer Science for the undergraduate degree
Minimum of two years of professional and proficient experience in Java
Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerization tools such as AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes
Strong business acumen in iterating over the apps within the Agile framework to achieve product-market-fit ASAP and following which, improving the app from the feedback the product is receiving and ultimately how that affects the business bottom line
Excellent analytical, communication, collaboration skills, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal micromanagement
Desirable: Proven experience in building the backend of mobile applications, ideally at least one greenfield one from scratch, that have gained significant traction on the App Store or Google Play
Desirable: Proficiency with React and/or React Native for potential frontend work
Desirable: Proficiency in C and/or C++ and/or C#
